Voting - Exercise your right
The City of Edina actually contains six school
districts, but only citizens residing in the following districts will be
holding elections November 3, 2009.
School District 273 (Edina) General Election
Edina School District 273 will hold their regular board election to fill
three spots on the Edina School Board. City of Edina staff administer Edina
School District Election so questions regarding polling locations and
absentee ballots may be directed to Edina City Hall Voter Registration at
952-826-0363.
School District 270 (Hopkins) General Election
Hopkins School District 270 will hold their regular board election to
fill four spots on the Hopkins School Board. Hopkins School District
administers their own elections and should be contacted at their District
Office, 952-988-4001 with questions regarding absentee ballots, polling
locations or ballot questions. Hopkins School District Office Hours are 7:30
a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
School District 280 (Richfield) General Election
Richfield School District 280 will hold their regular board election to
fill three spots on the Richfield School Board. Richfield School District
administers their own elections and should be contacted at their District
Office, 612-798-6012 with questions regarding absentee ballots, polling
locations or ballot questions. Hopkins School District Office Hours are 7:30
a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
2009 Election Information
General Election - Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 (Polls open -
7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

Pre-registration deadline - Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009

Absentee Ballots - Available beginning Oct. 2,
2009. Citizens needing an absentee ballot may vote in person at City
Hall from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours for
absentee voting Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.) Call

Election Campaign Signs
Minnesota State Statutes and the Edina City Code
regulate the placement of campaign signs.
Following is a short summary of some of the regulations:

No signs shall be placed in the right-of-way
without the permission of the property owner.
-
No signs should interfere with regulatory signs and
traffic control devices.

Campaign signs posted in connection with the
elections held at times other than a state general election are subject
to the following:

Maximum Size - six square feet.
-
Maximum Number - one sign for each candidate
per frontage.
-
Maximum Duration - 60 days prior to the
election until seven days following the election.
-
No sign shall be located in such a manner as to
impede the view at intersections.

No sign shall be attached upon trees, rocks or
power poles.
-
No sign shall be placed on parkland, or other
publicly owned property or bridges/overpasses.
